Ingredients

3 ½ cups All-Purpose Flour
¼ cup Granulated Sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons Instant Dry Yeast
1 teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
½ cup Whole Milk
2 large Eggs
½ cup Unsalted Butter
Optional: 1 tablespoon Water
Instructions
- In a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Mix briefly
- Add warm milk and room-temperature eggs. Mix on low speed until shaggy dough forms
- Knead at medium-low speed for about 5 minutes
- Incorporate softened butter one piece at a time, then knead for another 10-15 minutes until smooth
- Grease a bowl, place the dough inside, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1-2 hours
- Punch down the dough, divide into 12 pieces, and shape into balls
- Arrange in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again until puffy
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C), prepare egg wash, then brush on the rolls
- Bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving
Notes
For a richer flavor, substitute some all-purpose flour with bread flour.
For a dairy-free option, use plant-based milk and vegan butter.
