Ingredients
1 cup Unsalted Butter
1 cup Packed Light Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Whole Milk or Heavy Cream
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
4–5 cups Powdered Sugar, sifted
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the softened butter and packed light brown sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves
- Continue to simmer the mixture for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Carefully remove the saucepan from the heat and slowly pour in the milk and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well combined
- Transfer the caramel mixture to a heatproof bowl and allow it to cool completely at room temperature
- Once cooled, place the mixture in a large mixing bowl and beat it on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes
- Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing until incorporated
- Increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat for 3-5 minutes until the frosting is light, airy, and fluffy
Notes
Use a good quality butter for the best flavor.
Ensure the caramel mixture is completely cool before adding powdered sugar for the right consistency.
Always sift your powdered sugar to avoid graininess.
