Description

This Classic Homemade Lasagna Recipe features tender pasta, savory Bolognese sauce, creamy béchamel, and a blend of cheeses for a comforting Italian meal.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara or tomato sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups béchamel sauce (white sauce)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent.

3. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

4. Spread a thin layer of sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.

5. Layer 3-4 noodles over the sauce. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan, and pour some béchamel sauce.

6. Add another layer of noodles and repeat until ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of béchamel topped with cheese.

7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.

8. Let stand for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use fresh or no-boil lasagna noodles for convenience.

Simmer the sauce to deepen flavors.

Let lasagna rest before slicing for cleaner layers.

Freeze before or after baking for easy meal prep.
