Creamy Smothered Chicken and Rice features tender chicken breasts in a rich onion-mushroom gravy over fluffy rice, all in one pan for ultimate comfort.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup long-grain white rice uncooked
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms sliced
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt pepper
- Parsley
Instructions
1. Season chicken with salt pepper paprika garlic powder.
2. Heat oil butter in skillet sear chicken 4-5 min per side. Remove.
3. Sauté onions mushrooms 5 min add garlic 1 min.
4. Stir in rice 2 min.
5. Add broth cream simmer.
6. Nestle chicken back cover simmer 20-25 min.
7. Top with cheese melt 2-3 min.
8. Garnish serve.
Notes
Use thighs for juicier results.
Add veggies like broccoli.
Reheat with broth splash.
Freezes well up to 2 months.
Customize with Cajun spice.
