Description

These Easy Jalapeño Cheese Squares deliver an irresistible combination of creamy, savory cheese and a satisfying kick from fresh jalapeños. Perfect for busy evenings or unexpected guests, their golden-brown, slightly crispy exterior and gooey cheesy center make them a crowd-pleaser at any gathering.


Ingredients

1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
2 Large Eggs
1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 cup Fresh Jalapeños, deseeded and finely diced


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly
  3. Add the eggs to the melted butter and whisk until smooth
  4. Gradually whisk in the flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth
  5. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños until evenly distributed
  6. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clea
  8. Let the squares cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting them into squares

Notes

For less heat, remove jalapeño seeds and membranes.

For more heat, leave some seeds in or add cayenne pepper.
