These Easy Jalapeño Cheese Squares deliver an irresistible combination of creamy, savory cheese and a satisfying kick from fresh jalapeños. Ingredients
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, melted
2 Large Eggs
1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
1/2 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
4 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 cup Fresh Jalapeños, deseeded and finely diced
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking pan, or line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal
- In a large mixing bowl, melt the butter and let it cool slightly
- Add the eggs to the melted butter and whisk until smooth
- Gradually whisk in the flour, milk, baking powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños until evenly distributed
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clea
- Let the squares cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting them into squares
Notes
For less heat, remove jalapeño seeds and membranes.
For more heat, leave some seeds in or add cayenne pepper.
