Description

A quick, easy, and healthy take on the classic orange chicken, made with ground chicken and ready in under 20 minutes. Packed with flavor and perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Orange Sauce:

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice (from about 23 large oranges)
  • 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

For the Ground Chicken:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • 1 lb lean ground chicken
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 small bunch of green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Orange Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients: fresh orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, orange zest, cornstarch, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and optional red pepper flakes
  2. Cook the Ground Chicken: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and ground chicken. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned
  3. Combine and Simmer: Pour orange sauce over the chicken, stir to coat, and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens

Notes

Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor.

You can substitute ground chicken with ground turkey or beef based on preference.

Ensure to prep all ingredients before starting to avoid delays.
